Potton timber self build properties are popular throughout Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire probably due in the most part to the location of Potton as a business.
Potton timber homes have sprung up all over Cambridgeshire. I have visited two this week, one in Bury near Ramsey and one in Molesworth near the American airbase.
The older style mock Tudor Potton’s now look a bit dated with dark wood beams and pillars. Some of the designs also have small kitchens and not the huge family,dining, kitchen/breakfast room the new designs have.
Many of the timber homes I have seen have now been extended, one example of this is an old Potton with integral double garage in Alconbury Weston. The double garage has been converted into a playroom and Planning Permission sought for a new, detached double garage. In addition to this they have added a lovely single storey extension from the original but small kitchen at the back of the house making a huge difference to the feel and size, let alone the light.
