News – Home Information Packs look likely to be scrapped.


The latest news seems to be that the new Government will scrap Home Information Packs (HIP), a decision that I for one welcome. The majority of “information” they included was dated before a sale had been agreed!

It seems that an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will still be required because Brussels says so, but they cost less than £50 compared to around £250 for a  Home Information Pack.

Many Estate Agents have been making money on the HIPs their clients have been ordering or earning a referral fee for the introduction to a HIP/Conveyancing firm. I suspect there will be some Estate Agents saddened by this loss of income.
